Hearing Loss is estimated to affect at least 1 in 6 adults. It is most prevalent in the elderly population, but is becoming more common in middle-aged and even young adults, thanks in part to our constant bombardment with sounds and music. Noise exposure, often experienced by industrial workers and military veterans, can cause permanent damage to hearing and may lead to tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

Less than 20% of hearing loss is medically treatable, but it is important to be examined by a physician to make sure there is no physical problem (like wax or infection) causing the loss. The majority of hearing loss is sensorineural or "nerve" loss, which can often be helped by hearing aids. Hearing aids can be a wonderful investment to improve your quality of life, as untreated hearing loss can lead to confusion and feelings of frustration and isolations.
