Michael Svestka, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon and assistant professor of medical education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Dr. Svestka is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and serves as a peer reviewer for the SAGES affiliate journal, Surgical Endoscopy. He is committed to staying up to date on the latest research and techniques in the field of hernia surgery, and is a member of the ACHQC, a national database designed to track hernia outcomes.With a focused practice in complex hernia surgery, he is a high-volume abdominal wall reconstruction specialist with experience in both open and robotic approaches.
